btw, where are you from?
I bought a 1500 x 300mm lump of Lexan Polycarbonate sheet which is the same stuff your visor is made of. I got it 1mm thick and it can actually be cut with a decent pair of scissors. I cut it down the middle into 150mm width. I only used about half of it. It cost £13 including postage off ebay.
I rounded the top so it sat on the flat section of the existing plastic. Each side is in two sections as the curve at foot level puts too much spring into it and would be trying to rip it off. I initially fitted the Lexan using strips of heavy duty velcro. I then went around all the edges with gaffa tape, making sure not to overlap the adjacent panels so the bodywork can be removed without disturbing it. I then taped both sides of the joints between the two pieces on each side. At this stage it looked a right mess so I decided to cover the whole lot in gaffa tape. There is no dicernable deflection in use and I am looking forward to trying it out in the rain. I am confident it will work really well.
