I agree we are quite lucky.

If you build a brand new vehicle, or import one privately, you have to pas a much more stringent test though. my friend had to do this with a royal enfield that he bought of a man that had imported it himself from india. he had to change the tyres and the speedometer to get it to be legal.

hi again.. the project is now well and truly under way. I have stripped off the rear wheel shocks and swing arm, cleaned everything and sprayed black also same with rear part of frame. also stripped off most of front end, put in new fork seals etc.

in a bid to make the engine look as 'minimal' as possible, I am looking for advice removing the air correction valve? ( it may be called a different name).. it feeds air through a chrome tube to the exhaust port, and the valve itself is ugly and bulky, with lots of hoses feeding it! has anyone done anything with this? is it really necessary, as we do not have emison tests here in the UK on bikes? I have 2 photos if required but didn't want to tie up to much forum memory

I removed something similar at my 2005 Enfield Bullet. The best would be to buy a new exhaust-manifold, throw away that valve stuff and very important, close the hole at the intake-manifold securely (after removing the grey-red hose).

Hi Phil :superfreu: ,
first: very nice Dog and Garden! :superfreu: :up2: :prost2:

i think this air correction valve is something we call in Germany a Sekundärluftsystem.
The Parts were necessary to get the Carb Innovas shurely passing the Emission certification
in all European Countries like Switzerland i think.
I think it is not really necessary, it reduces HC und CO only at Warm Up of the Engine.
Nice to have for Short Runs under 3 Miles... Honda, cleaner than clean!
In my Carb Hsun it is just not build in and the Motorcycle has passed the certification in Europe too.

Remove it an close all Connections. This should work fine. Carb Settings should be the same...

Ive decided to go the whole hog with the Innova conversion, into a trail bike type, and NOT keep the option of reverting it to standard. hence, ive started removing unnecessary brackets, i'm having a custom minimalist wiring harness made etc.

SO.. although probably not practical for most of the German readers, I'm selling all the bits i dont need.. ie nearly all of the plastics, the rear footrest hangers, the resr 'mudguard', rear light etc etc. anyone need anything?

Anyway translated to German:

I'll advise you to reinstall the air filter especially if you plan to go offroad a lot. And nice option if you can install an oil-cooler if you want.

Hi Phil,

I have a Honda wave and think of buying a Royal Enfield. So I am interested in informations and stories about this bike.

Funny info: long time ago I had a pen pal in Nottinghamshire :)
